VERONIQUE 'ORANGE' JOLY - Paris-born writer and vocalist/performer. Her live art performance pieces bring to life literary figures of the past and present through spoken text and song, and present us with social aspects of the times as well as philosophical issues about art. Every work unfolds in a poetic and emotional combination of theatre, music, movement and film. Think Laurie Anderson meets chill-out Goldfrapp, Bjork, Mandaley.

DANIEL BIRO - composer and long-time collaborator of Orange. After studying jazz and classical in France, Biro came to the UK where he founded the Sargasso label to promote contemporary experimental and avant-garde music. Biro's 'love affair' with the Fender Rhodes electric piano has led him to develop new sound exploration techniques for the instrument. His latest works are concerned with the parallels between music composition, recent scientific theories like Chaos and Complexity, and spirituality. His three CDs have been critically acclaimed in the UK and abroad.
PATRICIA CURTIS - photographer and film director. Her images (based on a narrative and/or exploring texture and movement) often are a visual interpretation of sound.
STEPHEN FARRIER - director and lecturer in Drama at the London Central School of Speech and Drama. Farrier is currently completing his doctoral thesis in 'reading and theatre'. Influenced by the painterly approach of Robert Wilson, Farrier sees himself more image driven than narrative driven, and is attracted to forms that explore the edge of experiences – like he says, theatre doesn't hide the fact that it is 'theatre' and that we go there to play. He is a founder member of Ellipsis Theatre, and is involved in running another small theatre company Ludik.
ROB PALMER - spontaneous soundscapes guitarist/composer. Having worked extensively in free improvisation and groove orientated jazz/pop music, Palmer is now focusing on re-inventing guitar-based textures (where Brian Eno meets Bill Frisell) with a particular interest in sound and dynamic.
CATHY STEVENS - violinist (6 string violectra)/composer. Cathy was a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin School and has worked with leading orchestras and contemporary ensembles such as the English Chamber Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and Fires of London as well as Keith Tippett and Frank Perry in the field of free improvisation. Co-founder of the Europa String Choir www.europastringchoir.com she is now focusing on writing/recording for the ESC and is also a core member of the free improv project Safehouse, based in Bournemouth.
UDO DZIERZANOWSKI - guitarist/composer. Before coming to live in England, Udo worked with a number of musicians and rock groups in his native Berlin. He is a student of Robert Fripp's Guitar Craft, and has worked with the Sarum Chamber Orchestra and the Bournemouth Sinfonietta. Co-founder of the ESC, his current projects include work with the Wessex Guitar Circle and the Safehouse.
